Fitting Alloy Propellers and HubsUpdated 3 months ago
Whether you’ve purchased propellers, a hub, or both, you’ll need to follow the below instructions for installation.
Fitting Aluminium Propellers Important Points
1. The propellers must be installed in the correct orientation, when done correctly the bolt holes will all line up.
2. The new custom CNC bolts for the three-blade propeller comes with Loctite pre-applied to the bolt. If you have older style bolts, we recommend applying a small dab of blue Loctite to the thread to prevent them backing out.
2. When tightening your bolts, you should turn to the point where the bolt is finger tight. Overtightening your bolts will pull the thread and damage the hub.
Note: The new custom bolts will seat perfectly in the hub. Once the tension is taken up on the bolt when turning. Stop. It is now correctly fitted.
3. Ensure the propellers fold freely.
4. Simple modifications can be made to the hub if the propeller is not moving freely. Watch below to learn more.
Note: We highly recommend taking your propellers and hub off of the motor and applying new grease from time to time. We suggest TefGel or Marine Grease.
Note: For Older Style Plastic Propellers, see here.
