Gen1 and Gen2 Battery Information and Comparison
This article provides information about the different batteries available for the Gen2 systems as well as comparing them to the original Assist PLUS batteries.
Let's compare the Assist MAX Power and MAX Sport battery to the Assist Slim Endurance and Slim Performance Battery against the Assist PLUS Standard and PLUS Small Batteries.
There are two Gen2 Units available - The Max and the Slim. There are two different batteries per unit.
Max Power: Use with Nose Cone 'A' (40v)
Max Sport: Use with Nose Cone 'B' (40v)
Slim Endurance: Use with Nose Cone 'C' (28v)
Slim Performance: Use with Nose Cone 'D' (40v)
The higher voltage of batteries MAX Power, MAX Sport, and Slim Performance allow us to program the system via the app to run higher power output levels than what was possible with the Assist PLUS. This means more THRUST and more forward SPEED.

How does it compare to the Assist PLUS batteries?
This information is particularly useful for people who have ridden the Assist PLUS as it outlines the performance and ride differences between the two.
Assist PLUS
Standard PLUS battery: 362WH
Small PLUS battery: 120WH
Gen2
Slim Performance: 166WH (40v) - Power output is significantly more than small battery.
Ideal for: Bursts of super high power (Cannot e-foil this battery in flat water for long as it will go flat very quickly).
Slim Endurance: 241WH (28v) – Same voltage as Standard PLUS battery, has the same thrust potential. This is the biggest battery option for the SLIM architecture for the GEN2 system.
Ideal for: Lightweight riders, those using the system as an ‘assist’ to get on waves + motoring out to the break.
Max Sport: 332WH (40v) capacity – Though technically has a lower WH capacity than the PLUS Standard battery, the higher voltage of the Max Sport battery (40v vs. 28v) allows maximum thrust for longer. Even at 8-10% charge, this battery will still provide more thrust than a fully charged Standard PLUS battery. For those who have ridden the Standard PLUS, there is a noticeable change in performance around the 30% charge, you will not get that with this 40V architecture.
Ideal for: Longer runs, more power, e-foil capability.
Max Power: 498WH (40v) – Designed for those who want the longest ride time and maximum power. This battery can provide up to double run time than the Standard PLUS battery. This is simply because this battery will give maximum performance until it is in single digit percentages of battery depletion.
Ideal for: Maximum run time, maximum power. High recommended for heavier riders and those wanting to maximise their time in the water without the need for changing batteries as frequently.
The Facts
- In a massive advancement in durability and safety, all Gen2 batteries are IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. These batteries hold UN and CE certifications, along with rigorous QA/QC checks & balances to ensure the most rugged and reliable batteries possible. We are also working on PSE certification for the Japanese market.
- The SLIM and MAX batteries are not interchangeable between each system. If you purchase a SLIM system, you can only run SLIM batteries.
- The SLIM batteries have been designed to be as small and as light as possible to maximise the 'free' foiling experience but still having that powered assistance when needed.
- The MAX batteries have been designed for heavier riders as well as those who want to have maximum performance and long run times. The batteries are slightly heavier than the SLIM range, but still maintain that awesome foiling feeling.
