Foil Drive High Power Range – Official AnnouncementUpdated 2 months ago

We are pleased to introduce the Foil Drive High Power (HP) Range, featuring two significant advancements:

  • The MAX High Power Battery – A larger-capacity battery that increases overall capacity by approximately 20%.

  • The High Power Motor – A more powerful motor offering approximately 25% more torque compared to the existing V2 motor.

When combined, these two components provide a substantial performance enhancement for Gen2 systems, offering riders greater power, efficiency, and extended time on the water.

Performance Enhancements

The HP Range leverages the latest advancements in battery technology to maximize energy capacity and efficiency.

Key Benefits:

  • Extended Ride Time – Riders can enjoy up to 40-45% longer sessions.

  • Increased Torque and Efficiency – Improved performance allows for better acceleration and greater control, particularly in challenging conditions.

  • Minimal Weight Increase – The total weight increases for both the HP Battery and HP Motor combined is only 160g (5.6 oz), making it an exceptionally efficient upgrade.

Customisable Performance

Both the HP Battery and HP Motor have been designed as modular upgrades, allowing riders to choose the component that best suits their needs.

  • High Power Motor – Offers increased torque and efficiency, making it ideal for riders using smaller wings, requiring greater thrust, or navigating stronger conditions.

  • MAX High Power Battery – Provides longer ride times, making it well-suited for disciplines such as downwind foiling and extended sessions on the water.

These upgrades function much like tuning a foil setup—riders can select and adjust their components to optimize performance for specific conditions.

On-Water Testing & Real-World Application

During testing, the HP Motor was used in 20-22 knot winds, where its increased power allowed for seamless navigation through strong chop and side swells.

In another session, a ride of 58 minutes covering 15 km was completed with 9% battery remaining.

Compatibility & Installation

To ensure a seamless upgrade experience, the HP Range is designed for full compatibility with existing Foil Drive Gen 2 systems:

  • Propeller and Hub Compatibility – Riders can reuse their current V2 Motor propellers and hubs with the HP Motor.

  • V2 Motor Architecture Required – The HP Motor utilizes the same plug interface and requires the removable puck and cable for installation.

Foil Drive App Update

Update to the Foil Drive app to further enhance performance:

  • An additional 4% boost is being unlocked, increasing the total available boost to 28%.

  • When combined with the HP Motor’s increased efficiency and torque, riders can expect:

    • Improved acceleration

    • Better manoeuvrability

    • Enhanced low-speed take-off capabilities

  • This update allows for the use of smaller boards and wings, enabling improved performance across various foiling disciplines.

Conclusion

The Foil Drive High Power Range offers a significant advancement in foiling technology, providing riders with the choice between extended battery life and enhanced motor performance.

  • Both components can be used independently – Riders do not need to purchase both to experience improvements.

  • Selection depends on individual riding preferences – For more power and efficiency, the HP Motor is ideal. For longer sessions, the HP Battery is the preferred choice.

  • Commitment to Innovation – As with all Foil Drive products, these upgrades have been designed to be backward compatible, allowing riders to enhance their systems without needing to purchase an entirely new setup.
