Universal Motor Systems

• Cable management matters – A neat, smooth tape job will minimise drag. Loose or uneven tape can create additional drag and turbulence.
• Less streamlined – The universal pod sits externally on the mast rather than being incorporated into the mast profile.

Integrated Masts

Integrated Masts are purpose-built in collaboration with foil mast manufacturers to incorporate the Foil Drive motor system directly into the mast.

Instead of mounting a universal pod and running the motor cable externally, the motor and cable are integrated into the mast design.

The result is a cleaner, more streamlined setup with significantly less external hardware and drag.

• Reduced drag – The motor and cable are incorporated into the mast, eliminating the external cable and reducing the frontal area of the motor mounting system.
• More hydrodynamically efficient – The integrated design allows the mast, motor and propeller position to work together as a complete system.

• Excellent for dedicated Foil Drive setups – Particularly beneficial for riders who use Foil Drive regularly and want to maximise efficiency and performance.

Cons

• Less flexible – The motor position is fixed by the integrated mast design. You cannot adjust the motor height in the same way as with a universal pod system.
• Brand-specific – Integrated masts are designed for specific foil systems and are not intended to be universal across different foil brands.
• Additional investment – An integrated mast requires purchasing a dedicated mast rather than simply adding a motor pod to your existing mast.

Which Should I Choose?

Choose a Universal Motor System if you:

How Much Difference Does an Integrated Mast Make?

An integrated mast removes much of this external hardware and allows the motor system to sit more cleanly within the overall foil profile.
