Introducing the V2 Motor SystemUpdated 20 days ago

The Foil Drive V2 Motor System is a major leap forward in design, customization, and user serviceability. Engineered to give riders more control and flexibility, V2 introduces a removable cable system, hydrodynamic improvements, and an easier upgrade path — all while keeping the performance you know and love.

Key Features of the V2 Motor System

Removable Motor Cable

The most prominent upgrade in the V2 Motor System is the new removable cable design. By incorporating a recessed plug on the front of the V2 Motor, riders can now choose between a range of cable lengths depending on board size, riding style, or personal preference.

Instead of purchasing a whole new Motor for each cable configuration, you can simply swap cables with ease — no tools, soldering, or guesswork involved.

Greater Customization, Lower Cost

This modular approach opens up exciting opportunities for all kinds of foiling — from prone and SUP to downwind and wing. Cable changes are quick and cost-effective, allowing you to fine-tune your setup for optimal performance in each session.

Improved Serviceability

The cable design not only adds flexibility — it also dramatically simplifies servicing. If a cable or connector becomes damaged, you no longer need to replace the entire Motor. Just remove the faulty cable and replace it. This feature is especially helpful for remote users, frequent travelers, and those who foil in rougher conditions.

Hydrodynamic Improvements

The newly designed V2 Plug and Puck assembly is noticeably smaller than the previous version — in fact, it's around 60% smaller. This streamlined shape cuts through water more efficiently, reducing drag and improving glide. Every test rider reported a noticeable difference in water performance.

Compatibility and Upgrade Path

The V2 Motor System is compatible with your existing Rotor, Propellers, Hubs, and Universal Mast Adaptors. Only the Motor Stator, Removable cable and v2 Puck are different. If you're upgrading from a previous generation, there's no need to replace your entire kit.

You’ll only need:

  • A V2 Motor

  • A compatible Cable

  • a new V2 Puck

Key Usage Tips

  • Always check that the red O-ring is installed and the plug is clean before connecting a cable.

  • Apply a small bead of Foil Drive Electrical Connector Grease around the plug housing (not inside the pins) to help maintain waterproofing and reduce wear.

  • Use only the M4 x 16mm bolts supplied with your V2 Motor Puck — older bolts from V1 setups are too short.

Who Is This For?

  • Riders who want to tailor their setup across multiple boards or foiling disciplines

  • Adventurers who need a field-serviceable system

  • Foilers seeking better in-water performance and less drag

  • Anyone looking for a modular, future-proof setup
