Installing Motor Cable into Electronics Box | Gen1Updated 2 months ago
If you ever need to remove and install a new motor, here are the instructions of how to do so and some very important steps to follow to ensure the safe and reliable use of your gear moving forward.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Thin 20mm spanner
- Heat gun
- Sharp blade or knife
REMOVAL OF MOTOR CABLE FROM ELECTRONICS BOX
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Lift the cover of the electronics box following the instructions of this video
2. Remove the screw in the top left corner
3. Carefully and slowly raise the cover being mindful of the antenna and the small power lead that runs to the monitor screen.
4. Cut and remove the heat shrink that covers the three motor wire connector pins
5. Un-do the Cable Gland outer nut only and separate the cable gland sections
Note: Be very careful to not undo the main internal body of the cable gland. (Follow these Instructions here on how to undo and redo the cable gland)
6. Remove the cable from the box and remove the cable gland parts from the cable and put aside.
INSTALLING THE NEW MOTOR CABLE
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Heat shrink onto pins
2. Insert cable gland over motor cable (Instructions on waterproofing cable gland here).
3. Feed pins through hole on side of the box.
4. Plug the pins into the electronics box and slide the heat shrink over the pins to ensure it doesn't short out.
5. Pair controller with electronics box (Instructions here)
6. Plug in battery to electronics box.
7. Test motor with throttle. Rotation of your motor should be counter clockwise
Note: If the motor is not spinning counter clockwise, remove and swap the two outside pins with each other and try again.
8. Once the cables are correct, heat the shrink over the pins.
9. Pull cable through box so all cables sit nice and flush. Ensure antenna is facing the top left corner of the electronics box.
10. Feed up the cable gland and insert the black inner seal into the hole in the electronics box.
11. Fasten the nut by hand, then tighten with a shifter. Ensure base bolt or inner washer does not spin when tightening.
12. Test the cable to make sure the nuts are sufficiently tight by pulling on the cable to check if it slides out.
13. Replace cover over wiring, ensuring the antenna is poked through the hole in the top.
Note: Ensure no cables or antenna are pinched
14. Secure cover with bolt.
