Foil Drive V2 Motor OverviewUpdated 29 minutes ago

The Foil Drive V2 Motor features a sleek, hydrodynamic profile, improved modularity and a detachable motor cable system, making it easier to customise your Foil Drive setup as your riding evolves.

The detachable cable connection allows you to quickly change between different motor cable lengths, providing greater flexibility across different boards, foil setups and riding disciplines.

What's new on the V2 Motor?

The V2 Motor features:

  • Redesigned stator
  • Redesigned motor puck
  • Detachable motor cable
  • Customisable motor cable lengths
  • V2 Motor Plug for quick connection between the Foil Drive unit and V2 Motor
  • Compatibility with the universal motor pod and adaptor

This modular design means you can change your cable length as you become more familiar with Foil Drive and your preferred riding style — allowing your system to grow with you rather than requiring a completely new motor.

Motor Options

Standard V2 Motor

The Standard v2 Motor is a key element of any Foil Drive setup. This motor is compatible with all Gen2 and Gen2.2 systems.

High Power V2 Motor

Increase your runtime and enjoy more low end torque with the High Power Motor!
Through improved efficiency, the motor uses less power, resulting in more time on water. Additionally, the motor has an increase in low end thrust, meaning you get a little more when taking off.

These benefits do result in slightly less top end speed, and do increase weight, but only by 130g! A small compromise for an additional 20% runtime.

Motor Cable Lengths

The V2 Motor is available with six different cable lengths:

  • 12 cm (4.7 in) — New!
  • 15 cm (6 in)
  • 20 cm (7.9 in)
  • 25 cm (9.8 in)
  • 30cm (12 in) - New!
  • 60 cm (23.6 in)
  • 70 cm (27.5 in)

Choosing the correct cable length depends on your board, foil position, motor installation height and riding discipline.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am upgrading to a V2 - Can I use my existing V1 Rotor?

Yes, providing you are buying the standard V2 Motor and not the High-Power motor.

Can I change my V2 Motor cable?

Yes. The V2 Motor uses a detachable cable system, allowing you to change between compatible cable lengths.

Can the V2 Motor be used on an integrated mast?

Yes, providing you have a V2 Aluminium or Carbon integrated mast.

Can I use a V1 Motor Puck with the V2 Motor?

No. The V2 Motor Puck is designed specifically for the V2 Motor and is not compatible with V1 motors.

How should I remove the V2 Motor cable?

Pull the cable straight out from the motor. Do not bend or lever the cable sideways, as this can damage the puck and connection.

Do I need dielectric grease?

Yes. When riding in the ocean, Foil Drive dielectric grease must be applied to the O-Ring on the Cable plug before being attached to the stator.

Use a light coating and avoid over-application.

Which cable length should I choose?

This depends on your board, foil position, motor height and riding style.
