Foil Drive Gen2.5 Fusion OverviewUpdated 2 hours ago
Fusion is Foil Drive’s hybrid, do-it-all system, combining the power and runtime of an e-foil with the lightness and adaptability of a foil-assist.
Compared with MAX Power, Fusion delivers approximately 40% more thrust and up to 2× the runtime when paired with the Fusion 860 Battery (864Wh / 43 V). This makes it ideal for longer sessions, smaller boards, larger riders and riders who want more power without sacrificing responsiveness.
Fusion can be configured as an e-foil alternative or adapted for foil-assist riding by changing the motor position and/or using a shorter cable position.
This flexibility makes Fusion a system you can learn, progress and adapt with as your riding style develops.
Who is Fusion for?
Fusion is designed for riders who want:
- A lightweight e-foil experience for learning and leisure foiling.
- A high-power foil-assist with maximum runtime.
- More power for downwinders, heavier riders or smaller boards and foils.
- One system that can be configured for different riding styles and disciplines.

What makes Fusion different?
Fusion Electronics Box
The Fusion Electronics Box houses the system's primary electronics and includes advanced safety features such as the Tilt Sensor.
The Tilt Sensor can be:
- Turned ON or OFF.
- Set to a specific activation angle to suit the rider.
When enabled, the Tilt Sensor can help protect the rider from propeller contact if the board suddenly rolls or flips during a fall — sometimes referred to as a "taco."
When the programmed tilt angle is exceeded, the motor cuts out. It will automatically re-engage once the board returns below the programmed angle.
This can be particularly useful for new riders or younger riders.
Fusion 860 Battery
The Fusion 860 Battery is a fully enclosed, one-piece battery and nose-cone assembly designed to improve durability, balance and hydrodynamics.
It uses a Bluetooth Smart BMS (Battery Management System) to provide accurate State of Charge (SoC) information across:
- The Foil Drive App
- V3 Controller
- Battery Caddy
The battery also provides temperature and cell monitoring through the Foil Drive App.
Key battery features
- 864 Wh / 20 Ah
- 43 V nominal
- Fully enclosed one-piece design
- Bluetooth Smart BMS
- Typical charge time of approximately 1.45 hours
- Battery monitoring through the Foil Drive App
- Compatible Battery Caddy for monitoring and controlled discharge
V3 Controller
The Fusion V3 Controller provides complete control of the system and includes:
- GPS telemetry
- Live speed and distance
- Gear and Trigger throttle modes
- Boost
- High-brightness display
- Firmware updates through the Foil Drive App
Battery Caddy & 43V Charger
Battery Caddy
The Fusion Battery Caddy provides battery information and controlled discharge functions.
It can display:
- State of Charge
- Estimated time remaining
It also provides two discharge methods:
- Caddy Discharge — uses the Caddy's heatsink to discharge the battery to a selected level.
- USB-A/C Discharge — allows the battery to be discharged through the USB outputs.
The Battery Caddy can also be used as a portable power bank.
43 V Standard Charger
The included 43 V / 12 A Standard Charger uses a three-stage charging process designed to provide the best protection for the Fusion 860 Battery.
It includes:
- Standard charging
- Storage Mode, which stops charging at approximately 50–60% SoC
- Clear LED status indicators
Only use the Fusion 43 V charger with Fusion 43 V batteries.
Compatibility
Fusion uses a dedicated 43V electrical system.
Gen2.5 43V batteries and electronics are not cross-compatible with MAX or Slim batteries or Electronics Boxes.
Use only:
- Fusion 43 V Batteries
- Fusion 43 V Charger
- Fusion-compatible Electronics Box and components
Using incompatible batteries, chargers or electronics may damage the system and create a safety risk.
FAQs
Is Fusion an e-foil or a foil-assist?
Both.
Fusion is an e-foil alternative that can also be configured as a powerful foil-assist system by changing the motor position and/or cable length.
This allows one system to support multiple riding styles and disciplines.
How long will Fusion run?
The 864Wh Fusion 860 Battery can provide approximately 1–3 hours of runtime, depending on rider weight, board and foil setup, throttle level, conditions and riding style.
When compared with MAX Power, Fusion can provide approximately 2× the runtime when using the Fusion 860 Battery.
How powerful is Fusion?
Fusion produces up to approximately 34 kg of peak thrust, with a power-to-weight ratio of approximately 4.3–4.35 N/kg.
What is the water rating?
The Fusion Electronics Box is rated IP68, while the Fusion 860 Battery enclosure is rated IP69 for water and dust resistance.
Correct application of Foil Drive Battery Grease to the battery plug is essential for protecting the battery terminals against water and corrosion.
Where can I see everything included with Fusion?
See the What's Included Section on the Fusion product page for the latest and most complete list of components supplied with the kit.
How does Fusion compare with the Slim, Max and Max+?
Slim prioritises minimum weight, responsiveness, pumping and agility.
MAX provides more thrust and significantly more battery capacity than the Slim, making it better suited to riders who want longer sessions, more assistance and greater versatility across different conditions.
Fusion provides the longest run time, more thrust and sustained power across the whole voltage range of the battery. The Fusion is best suited to riders over 100kg or those wanting to use the system as an e-foil alternative.
Max+ keeps what you love about the Gen2 Max, but is packed with all the extra features of the Gen2.5, including more thrust, more battery options and safety features.
If your priority is minimum weight and natural foil feel, choose Slim.
If your priority is power, runtime and versatility, choose MAX.
If your priority is power, runtime, versatility and you're over 90kg, choose Fusion.
If your priority is power, runtime, versatility and you're under 90kg, choose Max+.
