Charging Troubleshooting GuideUpdated an hour ago
If you're having issues charging your V3 controller, follow the steps below to diagnose common problems and ensure correct setup.
1. Check Your Wall Adapter (Most Common Issue)
The charging issue is often caused by using an underpowered USB wall adapter.
Recommended specs:
- Output: 5V / 3A (recommended)
- Minimum: 5V / 2A
The V3 controller has a larger battery than the V2, so it requires a stronger power supply to charge correctly.
2. Confirm Charging Pad Power-Up
Before placing the controller on the pad:
- Plug the charging pad into the wall
- Look for indicator lights:
- Blue + green illumination
- Then a green ring around the pad
This means:
- Charging pad is powered correctly
- Ready to accept the controller
3. Check Controller Alignment on Charging Pad
Correct alignment is essential for charging to start.
Orientation guide:
- Foil Drive logo side facing up
- “Charging point” circle facing the controller
Placement steps:
- Place controller onto the pad
- Slide it down until the lip of the controller meets the edge of the pad
- Wait for connection to engage
4. Confirm Charging Activation
When correctly aligned:
- Charging pad will turn blue
- Controller screen will power on
- Charging animation will begin
If it does not activate:
- Rotate the controller slightly around the pad
- Try different orientations until blue light triggers
(Some positions are more sensitive than others.)
5. Charging Time Expectations
The V3 controller battery is approximately double the capacity of the V2 controller, so charging takes longer.
Typical charge time:
- 3 to 5 hours
Charging time depends on:
- Battery health
- Starting charge level
- Power adapter strength
If charging takes longer than 5 hours, contact support.
6. Charging Complete
Once fully charged:
- Controller screen will display “Charge Completed”
- Remove controller from charging pad
Important: The charging pad does not fully power off after completion, so leaving it on charge unnecessarily may affect long-term battery health.
If Charging Still Doesn’t Work
Try the following:
- Re-check wall adapter output (must be 5V 2A recommended)
- Re-seat controller on pad and adjust orientation
- Ensure charging contacts are clean and dry
- Try a different wall outlet or adapter
- Inspect pad and controller for salt or debris
Summary
- Use a 5V 3A adapter (minimum 5V 2A)
- Wait for green/blue pad lights before charging
- Align controller correctly (logo up, charging point down)
- Charging takes 3–5 hours
- Remove once “Charge Completed” appears
