If water enters the battery compartment of your Gen2.5 system, don't panic. The most important thing is to remove the battery, clean and dry the system correctly, and inspect the battery before using it again.

What you need to do depends on whether the system was exposed to salt water or fresh water.

If Salt Water Entered the Battery Compartment

Salt water should be removed as soon as possible, as salt residue can accelerate corrosion of electrical connections and components.

What to Do

1. Remove the battery from the electronics box.
2. Drain all water from the unit.
3. Rinse the battery compartment thoroughly with fresh water to remove any remaining salt or salt residue.
4. Allow the electronics box to drain and dry completely.
5. Carefully dry and inspect the battery connector and terminals.
6. If the terminals are clean and free from corrosion or damage, reapply dielectric grease to the battery terminals.
7. Once everything is completely clean and dry, reinstall the battery.

Important: Removing salt residue is the priority. Even after the water has evaporated, remaining salt can continue to cause corrosion.

Inspect the Battery Before Reinstalling It

Before using the battery again, inspect it carefully.

Look for:

• Damage to the battery's outer shell
• Cuts, splits or damage to the heat shrink
• Corrosion around the battery terminals
• Swelling or deformation
• Bubbling or hissing
• Unusual heat, smells or leaking
• Any other visible damage or abnormal condition

If the Battery Is Damaged

Do not use or charge the battery if there is any damage to the heat shrink or outer shell.

Remove the battery from the system and contact [email protected] with clear, detailed photos of the battery and affected areas so our team can assess it.

If Fresh Water Entered the Battery Compartment

Fresh water exposure is generally less concerning than salt water because it does not leave the same highly corrosive salt residue.

What to Do

1. Remove the battery.
2. Drain the water from the electronics box.
3. Dry the battery compartment and connectors thoroughly.
4. Inspect the battery and terminals for any signs of damage or corrosion.
5. Reapply dielectric grease to the battery terminals/connectors as required.
6. Once everything is completely dry and there are no signs of damage, reinstall the battery.

• The battery's outer shell or heat shrink is damaged.
• The battery is swollen or deformed.
• There is corrosion or damage around the battery terminals.
• You believe water may have entered inside the battery itself.

Important: Water inside the Gen2.5 battery compartment does not necessarily mean the battery itself has been compromised.
