V3 Controller Not ChargingUpdated 2 hours ago
If you are having issues charging your V3 Controller, follow the troubleshooting steps below to identify and resolve common charging issues.
The most common causes of charging issues are:
- Incorrect wall adapter power output
- Incorrect controller placement on the charging pad
- Charging pad not receiving power
- Dirty or contaminated charging contacts
Symptoms
This guide applies if your V3 Controller:
- Is not charging
- Does not turn on when placed on the charging pad
- Charging pad does not activate
- Takes longer than expected to charge
- Does not reach full charge
Step 1 – Check Your Wall Adapter
The most common cause of V3 Controller charging issues is using an underpowered USB wall adapter.
The V3 Controller has a larger battery capacity than the V2 Controller and requires a stronger power supply to charge correctly.
Recommended Wall Adapter Specifications
Use a USB wall adapter with:
Recommended: 5V / 3A output
Minimum: 5V / 2A output
If your wall adapter does not meet these specifications, try a compatible higher-powered adapter and test again.
Step 2 – Confirm the Charging Pad Has Power
Before placing your controller on the charging pad:
- Plug the charging pad into the wall.
- Check the indicator lights on the pad.
The charging pad should show:
- Blue and green illumination
- A green ring around the charging pad
This confirms:
- Charging pad has power
- Charging pad is ready to charge the controller
If the Charging Pad Does Not Light Up
Try the following:
- Check the USB connection between the wall adapter and charging pad.
- Try a different wall outlet.
- Try a different compatible USB wall adapter.
If the charging pad still does not activate, please follow the instructions below to submit a warranty form.
Step 3 – Correctly Position the Controller on the Charging Pad
Correct alignment is required for charging to begin.
Controller Placement
Ensure:
- The Foil Drive logo side is facing upward
- The charging point circle is facing the controller
- The controller is seated correctly against the charging pad edge
To position the controller:
- Place the controller onto the charging pad.
- Slide the controller down until the lip of the controller meets the edge of the charging pad.
- Wait for the charging connection to activate.
Step 4 – Confirm Charging Has Started
When correctly aligned:
The charging pad will:
- Turn blue
The controller will:
- Power on
- Display the charging animation
If Charging Does Not Activate
Try:
- Remove the controller from the charging pad.
- Re-seat the controller.
- Slightly rotate the controller around the charging pad.
- Try different positions until the blue charging indicator activates.
- Place your phone on the charging pad to see if the pad charges your phone.
Note: Some positions are more sensitive than others, and small adjustments may be required.
Step 5 – Check Charging Time
The V3 Controller battery is approximately twice the capacity of the V2 Controller.
A longer charge time is normal.
Expected Charging Time
Typical charging time:
3–5 hours
Charging time can vary depending on:
- Battery charge level when charging begins
- Battery condition
- Wall adapter output
If Charging Takes Longer Than 5 Hours
Confirm:
☐ Correct wall adapter is being used
☐ Charging pad activates correctly
☐ Controller is positioned correctly
☐ Charging animation appears
If charging remains slow, please complete a warranty form following the instructions below.
Step 6 – Confirm Charging Is Complete
When charging is complete:
The controller screen will display:
"Charge Completed"
Once complete:
- Remove the controller from the charging pad.
Important:
- The charging pad does not fully power off after charging is complete.
- Leaving the controller on the charging pad unnecessarily may affect long-term battery health.
Additional Checks
If your V3 Controller is still not charging:
☐ Confirm your wall adapter is 5V / 2A minimum
☐ Try another compatible wall adapter
☐ Try another wall outlet
☐ Re-seat and reposition the controller on the charging pad
☐ Check charging contacts are clean and dry
☐ Remove any salt, sand, or debris from the controller and charging pad
Still Having Issues?
