However, when it comes to safety, there is one principle that should always come first:

Foil Drive systems are designed, tested and certified to be used only as described in the User Manual.

Using the product in ways outside of its intended design may introduce safety risks that have not been evaluated or tested by Foil Drive.

Why does intended use matter?

Every component of a Foil Drive system has been engineered for a specific purpose and operating environment.

Our systems are designed to be:

• Securely mounted to a compatible board.
• Correctly installed according to the User Manual.
• Used with approved Foil Drive components and accessories.

When the system is modified or used in an unintended way, the loads placed on components can increase dramatically beyond what they were designed to withstand.

This can lead to equipment damage, unpredictable behaviour and increased safety risks.

Wearing the Foil Drive battery or electronics box

From time to time, we've seen riders attach the Foil Drive battery or electronics box to their body, including wearing it in a backpack or using the system in other body-mounted configurations.

Foil Drive does not recommend or support this method of use.

Our systems were specifically engineered for the electronics box and battery to remain securely attached to the board—not the rider.

This is both a product reliability and rider safety requirement.

Our approach to innovation

We love seeing riders innovate and discover new ways to enjoy Foil Drive.

Many of the features available today exist because our community shared ideas and feedback.

However, until a new method of use has been:

• Engineered,
• Tested,
• Validated, and
• Approved by Foil Drive,

it should not be considered a safe or supported way to operate the product.

Best Practice

To ensure the safest and most reliable experience with your Foil Drive:

• Always install the system according to the User Manual.
• Only use approved Foil Drive components and accessories.
• Mount the electronics box and battery securely to the board as intended.
• Do not modify the system or use it in ways not described in the User Manual.

Following the intended installation and operating instructions helps protect both your equipment and everyone around you.
