How to Re-Calibrate Your V3 ControllerUpdated 4 hours ago

If your V3 Controller prompts you to re-calibrate, or the throttle data is not accurate, this means the controller trigger position is not correctly aligning with the internal magnet.

When this happens, the controller may not send the correct throttle information to the motor, and a recalibration is required.

Symptoms may include:

  • Hall Error message displayed
  • Throttle not reaching 100%
  • Throttle not returning to 0%
  • Motor not responding correctly to trigger input
  • Incorrect throttle readings

Follow the steps below to recalibrate your V3 Controller.

Step 1 – Enter the Calibration Menu

  1. Turn on your V3 Controller.
  2. Press and hold the + and - buttons at the same time to enter the settings menu.
  3. Navigate to Setting 2 – Calibrate.
  4. Press the B button to enter the calibration setting.

Step 2 – Complete Trigger Calibration

Follow the instructions shown on the controller screen.

  1. Pull the trigger fully in to 100% throttle.
  2. Hold the trigger at full throttle.
  3. Wait for the controller to confirm calibration is complete.

Once completed, the controller will return to the menu.

Step 3 – Return to the Home Screen

  1. Press and hold the - button to return to the main home screen.
  2. Confirm the throttle is now reading 0% when the trigger is released.

Step 4 – Test Throttle Operation

The throttle test depends on your controller mode.

If Using Gear Mode

  1. Set the controller to Gear 5.
  2. Pull the trigger fully.
  3. Confirm the throttle increases correctly.
  4. Press the B button to confirm the throttle reaches 100%.

If Using Trigger Mode

  1. Pull the trigger fully.
  2. Confirm the throttle increases smoothly to 100%.
  3. Release the trigger.
  4. Confirm it returns smoothly to 0%.

If Calibration Does Not Resolve the Issue

If the controller still does not read throttle correctly:

Try Recalibrating Again

The calibration process may not complete successfully on the first attempt.

Repeat the calibration steps above and test again.

Clean the Controller

Salt buildup or debris around the trigger can affect trigger movement.

To clean:

  1. Soak the controller in warm fresh water.
  2. Allow salt deposits to dissolve.
  3. Dry the controller thoroughly.
  4. Test the controller again.

Inspect the Trigger Assembly

If the issue continues:

  1. Remove the five screws on the rear of the controller.
  2. Carefully open the controller.
  3. Inspect the trigger assembly for:
    • Salt or debris buildup
    • Damage to the trigger
    • Damage to the trigger spring
    • Obstructions affecting trigger movement
