How to Pair Your V2 Controller to Your Foil Drive SystemUpdated 3 hours ago

If you've received a new or replacement V2 Controller, your controller has lost connection with your Foil Drive system, or you've been asked by the Foil Drive Support team to re-pair your controller, follow the steps below.

Pairing creates the wireless connection between your V2 Controller and your Foil Drive unit.

When Should You Pair Your Controller?

You may need to pair your controller if:

  • You've received a replacement controller.
  • Your controller has lost connection with your Foil Drive system.
  • The controller is not communicating with the electronics box.
  • You've been instructed by Foil Drive Support to re-pair your controller.

Before You Begin

Before starting the pairing process:

  • Ensure your controller is turned on.
  • Ensure the battery is disconnected from the Foil Drive unit.
  • Keep the controller close to the Foil Drive system during pairing.

Step 1 – Enter the Controller Menu

  1. Turn on the controller by pressing and holding the Power Button.
  2. Press and hold the Cruise Control Trigger.
  3. While continuing to hold the Cruise Control Trigger, single press the Power Button.
  4. Release the Cruise Control Trigger.

The controller will enter the settings menu.

Step 2 – Navigate to Pairing

  1. Use short presses of the Power Button to move the selection arrow through the menu.
  2. Continue until the arrow highlights:

Option 4 – Pairing

  1. Press and hold the Power Button to select this option.

The controller screen will display:

"Pairing..."

Step 3 – Pair the Controller

Once the controller displays "Pairing...":

  1. Plug the battery into your Foil Drive unit.
  2. Wait approximately 1–2 seconds.

If pairing is successful:

  • The controller will automatically return to the menu.
  • The motor will play its normal start-up beeps.

This indicates the controller has successfully paired with the Foil Drive system.

Step 4 – Exit the Menu

Press the Cruise Control Trigger once to exit the menu.

The controller will return to the home screen.

The motor will complete its normal initialisation sequence and is now ready for use.

Confirm Successful Pairing

Your controller has paired successfully if:

  • The controller returns to the home screen.
  • The motor plays the normal start-up tones.
  • The controller communicates with the Foil Drive system.
  • The motor responds correctly when tested.

If Pairing Does Not Work

If the controller does not pair successfully:

  1. Confirm the battery remained disconnected until the controller displayed "Pairing...".
  2. Repeat the pairing process from the beginning.
  3. Ensure the battery is plugged in only after the controller is in pairing mode.

Still Having Issues?

If you've completed all of the troubleshooting steps above and your issues persist, the next step is to submit a warranty claim for assessment.

Please complete the warranty form for your region and ensure you include:

  • Your Foil Drive serial number
  • A detailed description of the issue
