Fusion Battery TroubleshootingUpdated 2 hours ago

This article covers common Fusion battery questions, troubleshooting tips and best practices to help you get the most from your battery.

Battery Troubleshooting

Battery Difficult to Remove

Some board and mast combinations place additional compression on the Fusion unit, making the battery slightly harder to remove.

If this happens:

Method 1

Open both battery latches.

Place your thumbs inside the latch recesses while holding the latches with your fingers.

Use the latches for leverage to gently push the battery away from the unit.

Many users find this provides much better leverage than simply pulling on the battery.

Method 2

If the battery is still difficult to remove, slightly loosen the front mast bolts by one or two turns.

Reducing compression often allows the battery to slide out easily.

This can occur because different boards and mast systems vary in shape and stiffness.

Battery Won't Top Up the Last 1–2%

If your battery is already very close to full charge, you may notice the charger doesn't restart to add the final 1–2%.

This is normal.

Once the Fusion Battery reaches approximately 50V, the charger considers the battery effectively full. The remaining voltage difference provides only a negligible increase in runtime.

If you're unsure whether charging has completed:

  1. Unplug the charger.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. Plug it back in.

If charging resumes, it'll finish topping up the battery.

If it doesn't restart, the battery is already considered fully charged.

Gen 2 Battery Checker Shows the Wrong Percentage

The original Gen 2 inline battery checker is not compatible with Fusion Batteries.

Because Fusion uses a higher battery voltage, the older checker will display an incorrect state of charge.

Instead, check battery percentage using one of these methods:

  • The Battery Caddy
  • The Foil Drive App
  • The Foil Drive unit when connected

My Battery Got Wet

If water enters the battery compartment, don't panic.

If Salt Water Entered the Unit

  1. Remove the battery.
  2. Drain all water from the unit.
  3. Rinse the battery compartment thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt residue.
  4. Allow the unit to drain and dry.
  5. Dry the battery connector.
  6. If the battery terminal is free of corrosion, reapply dielectric grease to the battery terminals.
  7. Reinstall the battery once dry.

Removing salt is the most important step, as salt accelerates corrosion.

Important: If there is damage to the battery heat shrink or outer shell - do not use the battery or attempt to charge it. Reach out to [email protected] with clear, detailed photos so we can assess the battery.

If Fresh Water Entered the Unit

Fresh water is much less of a concern.

Simply:

  • Drain the water.
  • Dry the compartment.
  • Reapply dielectric grease to the connectors.
  • Reinstall the battery.
