43V Charger – How to Use, Compatibility & TroubleshootingUpdated 2 minutes ago
This guide explains how to use your Foil Drive 43V charger, including compatibility, charging modes, indicator lights, and common troubleshooting steps.
Compatibility
The 43V charger is only compatible with:
- Foil Drive 43V batteries
Not compatible with:
- Gen2 batteries
- Any non-Foil Drive batteries
This is because the charger and battery communicate via a built-in BMS handshake system

Charging Behaviour (Important)
- Slow charge 0 → 5%
- Charging is fast from 6% → ~90%
- After ~91%, charging slows down significantly
- At 98–99%, the charger trickles the final charge
Tip: If you're in a hurry, you can safely unplug at ~98–99% and ride.

Power Requirements
To operate correctly, the charger must be plugged into:
- A 100–240V AC power supply
- A surge-protected outlet
- A power source capable of handling ~650W draw
Avoid:
- Cheap DC-to-AC inverters (non–pure sine wave)
- Low-quality or unstable generators
These can prevent the charger from functioning properly or cause errors.

Charger Storge Guidelines
The charger is IP66 rated, meaning it is splash-resistant—but not waterproof.
Best practices:
- Keep in a cool, dry place
- Allow airflow (fan must ventilate heat)
- Store out of direct sunlight
Avoid:
- Leaving it in hot cars or direct sun
- Covering it while charging
- Exposure to heavy rain or submersion

Troubleshooting
Charger not working or not charging?
Try this reset:
- Unplug the charger from power
- Wait at least 10 seconds
- Plug it back in
- Wait ~15 seconds for system handshake
This resolves most issues (≈99%)
Charger in standby but not responding?
If left idle too long, the charger may go into sleep mode/dormant.
Solution:
- Power cycle (same steps as above).
